The best cargo purchase depends on both payout and throughput. This comparison uses the August 11, 2026 snapshot and simple base rewards. It excludes Luck, rebirth bonuses, premium multipliers, and changing live prices.

Base value comparison

BoxSnapshot costBase payoutGain over previous tier
ScrapStarter$10
Cardboard$50$20+$10 per box
Wooden$1,500$50+$30 per box

Water, Cotton Candy, and Rainbow payouts were not reliably supplied, so they are not ranked by profit here.

Cardboard break-even example

Cardboard costs $50 and pays $10 more than Scrap per delivered box in the snapshot. Ignoring all multipliers, five Cardboard deliveries recover that upgrade cost through the additional payout:

$50 ÷ ($20 - $10) = 5 boxes

This is incremental break-even, not total account profit.

Wooden break-even example

Wooden costs $1,500 and pays $30 more than Cardboard. Under the same simplified assumptions, 50 Wooden deliveries recover its cost relative to staying on Cardboard:

$1,500 ÷ ($50 - $20) = 50 boxes

If the live price or payout differs, substitute the current numbers before deciding.

Throughput can change the choice

Buying Wooden early may slow other upgrades if Walkspeed, Stack Size, or workers are still weak. Cardboard can be the better short-term step when its low cost lets you keep improving the whole loading loop. Later, Wooden's higher base payout becomes stronger when boxes move without waiting.

Frequently asked questions

Which box has the best verified payout?

Wooden has the highest confirmed base payout among the three boxes with reliable values.

Are multipliers included?

No. The comparison intentionally uses base snapshot values.

Why are later boxes missing from the ranking?

Their costs are documented, but reliable payout figures were not supplied. Ranking them would require invented numbers.
